- Greeting customers as they approach the register and providing excellent customer service - Scanning items or entering their prices into the cash register accurately - Accepting payments from customers in the form of cash, credit/debit cards, or other payment methods - Issuing receipts and returning change to customers - Balancing the cash drawer at the end of each shift and ensuring that all transactions are accounted for - Processing returns and exchanges of merchandise - Maintaining a clean and organized checkout area - Answering customer inquiries - Maintaining knowledge of current sales, promotions, and discounts
